About the Ambassador Program

Learn how the Tourism Ambassador Program helps visitors feel at home across Nova Scotia.

Tourism Rocks! The Ambassador Program aims to inspire Nova Scotian pride and the desire to share unique local experiences with visitors. While the natural beauty of our province may attract travelers, it is the hospitality and kindness of our people that keep them coming back year after year.

Tourism Ambassadors understand the role they play in making our province a welcoming destination for visitors from near and far. You can help make our province a memorable destination.

So, what does it take to be a great tourism ambassador for Nova Scotia?

Share Local Gems

Be proud of where you come from and share your favourite local destinations and experiences with visitors, whether it’s the obvious landmarks or those hidden gems only residents know about.

Show You Care

Have a caring attitude. A good ambassador wants visitors to have great experiences so that when they return home, they can tell their friends that Nova Scotia is a wonderful destination.

Whether you’re personally interested in local events or not, you probably know what’s going on in your own community. It is all too easy to forget that what’s commonplace to us may be an exciting must-see for tourists unfamiliar with the area.

Helpful Resources

You don’t have to be the expert on everything! When you don’t know, you can always refer people to the local visitor information centre. Be sure you’re aware of the centre’s operating season/hours. You may also refer visitors to novascotia.com for live chat support or the toll-free phone line, 1-800-565-0000.

Be Curious

Ambassadors are great listeners. By asking the right questions, you can ensure the visitor receives the right information – for example, “How long are you planning to stay here?” or “What kinds of activities are you interested in?”

It’s that simple! All you have to do to be a great ambassador for Nova Scotia is to love your province and share that passion with our visitors.
